Something of a speciality.

I’m making something for Eames.

Gotta see this post first:

Alright, I’m gonna do this on this post, because this is the post that sparked everything for me. I want to talk about Eames’ relationship with Cobb, and thus, about Eames’ rank in the dreamsharing business and his past.

I want to start…

Found the Eames store.

so what does Pointman!Eames look like?

A little more clean cut, because he has more face time with clients, but not as neatly pressed as canon!Arthur. Like so:

fidget  \ˈfi-jət\

  • a condition of restlessness as manifested by nervous movements

  • to behave or move nervously or restlessly
  • to play or fuss; fiddle

smirk  \ˈsmərk\

  • a smile expressing scorn, smugness, etc., rather than pleasure

intransitive verb

  • to smile in an affected, often offensively self-satisfied manner

One of the things I find most interesting in Inception is how subtly different the characters are in the different dream levels.

Takes Eames*, for example.

In reality he is filthy gorgeous unshaven and maybe slightly worn looking:

and in Yusef’s dream he is very similar to that Eames we know in reality

(Gotta love how Yusef dresses Arthur like a mini Cobb, but that’s another post for another day.)  It would seem that Yusef’s Eames is based very much on his public persona that we’ve seen so far throughout the film.  So far, so good.

Arthur’s perception of Eames comes next and this is perhaps the most interesting:

Eames’ suit is creased.  Does that maybe say something about the way Arthur sees him?  Does he think of him as slightly shabby and unkempt?  Or is it that Arthur is aware that Eames’ public face is very different from who he really is and the guy in the loud shirt and the creased suit is just his Eames.  Maybe it’s creased because the last time they were together, Arthur gripped the material over Eames’ heart as they kissed and pressed Eames up against the wall, rumpling the back of his jacket.  (Bolded because it’s my headcanon and is totally gonna be my next drabble.)

And finally, how Eames sees himself.

We can look at this in one of two ways.  One, Eames’ ego is so huge that in his dream he’s slimmer, smoother, faster, better than in reality because that’s how he really sees himself; even when he’s losing money on a bet in Mombasa.  Two, Eames hates himself so much that he believes it’s only in a dream that he can be slimmer, smoother, faster, better.

Oh, fuck.

*Come on, what else did you expect?
